I love this song so much but not even for the reason she wrote this. I was in an abusive relationship for 7 years and I couldn't even dream anymore. I often wished I could just disappear sometimes. I like to sing karaoke to this song in private but I can't even get through it, I always start crying during the second verse during "hoping someday maybe I'll just float away and I'll forget every cynical thing you say" because my ex was emotionally, verbally, sexually, physically, and financially abusive to me. This song made me get through times when I was so lonely looking out the window when I felt like I couldn't even leave the house at my own free will. My situation was definitely not good if I can relate to quotes from people who were kidnapped and missing for long periods of time. I am free now and I can finally live my life after so long of just waiting to die.
